Cet ouvrage rassemble les communications présentées lors de la journée d’étude organisée par la bibliothèque de la Société nationale d’Horticulture de France (SNHF) le 16 mai 2025, consacrée aux sources de l’histoire des jardins et aux façons dont nous les lisons et interprétons aujourd’hui. Les auteurs s’appuient sur des archives, des corpus imprimés ou des fonds graphiques afin de montrer la diversité des matériaux disponibles et la manière dont ils participent à l’écriture de cette histoire. Les contributions traitent de l’articulation entre documents et objets, des utilisations possibles de ces sources ainsi que des précautions nécessaires dans leurs analyses. This book brings together the papers presented at the one-day symposium organized by the library of the French National Horticultural Society (SNHF) on 16 May 2025, devoted to the sources of garden history and the ways in which they are read and interpreted today. Drawing on archival materials, printed sources, and graphic collections, the authors highlight the range of documents available and the roles they play in writing this history. The contributions examine the relationship between written records and objects, the traces left by administrative and commercial practices, and the critical approaches required to link sources with historical narratives. Intended for archive and library professionals, as well as readers interested in horticultural and botanical heritage, this volume was produced within the framework of the European Botanical and Horticultural Libraries Group (EBHL) conference.
